Jason Chang appointed Senior Managing Director, Fixed Income of Alberta Investment Management Corporation
Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Chang to the role of Senior Managing Director, Fixed Income. Mr. Chang joined the organization April 25, 2022.
“Jason brings more than 25 years of experience generating value-add in portfolio management spanning a broad range of asset classes, including Fixed Income,” said Sandra Lau, Co-Chief Investment Officer and Head of Public Investments, AIMCo. “Jason will lead the Fixed Income team in creating and implementing a scalable and dynamic fixed income strategy, investment process, and corresponding risk controls to deliver superior, risk-adjusted returns to meet our clients’ objectives.”
As Senior Managing Director, Fixed Income, Mr. Chang will be responsible for a portfolio in excess of $35 billion in fixed income assets across domestic and foreign fixed income portfolios. Investments include public fixed income, public corporate credit, private placements and fixed income derivatives, across active and passive formats. He will lead the team that manages a diversified selection of portfolios and strategies seeking return and managing risk through prudent duration, curve, geographic, sector, issuer, and structural selection and diversification. Mr. Chang will report to Sandra Lau, co-Chief Investment Officer, Head of Public Investments.
Mr. Chang was most recently at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), where he spent his last six years as Managing Director & Head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities. At OTPP, Mr. Chang led a team of 17 investment professionals and managed a $120 billion portfolio.

Biographical Notes
Jason Chang, Senior Managing Director, Fixed Income
A senior investment executive with over 25 years in the investment and portfolio management industry, Mr. Chang was formerly the Managing Director and Head of Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities for the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), the largest single-profession pension plan in Canada. He led the team responsible for the overall fund’s exposures to these global asset classes and the related active investment programs. Previously, Mr. Chang held various other portfolio management and investment-related responsibilities spanning global credit products, debt issuance, counterparty credit management and liquidity management.
Mr. Chang has been active in many professional associations including the Canadian Fixed-Income Forum which was established by the Bank of Canada, and the Fixed Income Advisory Committee for the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC). He has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Canada Guaranty Mortgage Insurance Company as well as having acted as chair of their Investment Committee and served on the Board and Executive Committee for the Investor Leadership Network. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada. In 2019, Mr. Chang was a recipient of Women in Capital Markets’ Champion of Change Award which recognizes excellence in leadership, commitment and creativity in advancing equality in the Canadian finance industry.
Mr. Chang is a graduate of the Ivey School of Business and has received the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and he is a graduate of the ICD-Rotman Director Education Program and achieved his ICD.D designation.
